The question I hear most often is:
What is the difference between an omelette and a frittata?
The frittata is Italian in origin and the omelette in French..but an omelette is usually folded over and a filling is placed inside A frittata is served flat. An omelette is thinner than a frittata, it may have one or 2 less eggs than a frittata. An omelette is typically just made of eggs and any other ingredients are used as a filling-mushrooms,onions,peppers, asparagus and any other ingredient you choose.
A frittata usually has the ingredients inside the eggs, so you may add your ingredients to the egg before placing in the pan or you may saute the ingredients in olive oil and then pour eggs into the same pan on top of ingredients and make a frittata.
